NINE

1018 West Main Street
Louisville, Kentucky 40202

The Ground Floor Gallery produced "NINE," an art exhibition created for a vacant three-story building in downtown Louisville, which opened over a long weekend in the Spring of 2008. The Ground Floor Gallery converted the building into several contemporary and comfortable loft-style apartments by furnishing each floor with furniture from iconic designers, curating contemporary artworks from nine artists, with a total of twenty-six (26) artworks, in each room of the building, serving artful food from Wiltshire Pantry of Louisville, and hiring Whistle Peak, One Small Step, and DJ Sean John to play music. Original merchandise sold at "NINE" was designed by Amanda Joyce Bishop and Ty Kreft. The idea behind the show was to create an atmosphere where people could "imagine" original video, painting, sculpture, and mixed media in their personal living space. Artists included: D Matthew Brown, Lindsey Dobson, Thea Lura, Gillian Mosvold, Gibbs Rounsavall, Colin Miller, Clare Hirn, Jonathan Miles Stich (JMS), and Michael Linzy. The show opened to favorable reviews in The Courier Journal and in the LEO Weekly. "NINE" was also promoted on-air by 91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville.
